Aims & Scope
GYANA is a platform to promote research writing among social scientists. Gyana aims:
  • To create a platform that fosters the growth of knowledge that encourages collaboration, and addresses real-world challenges.
  • To foster interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars, researchers, and practitioners from various fields in social sciences.
  • To address contemporary societal, economic, and managerial challenges that offers insights, solutions, and policy recommendations.
  • To uphold high standards of academic rigor, peer review, and ethical practices to ensure the credibility and reliability of published work.
The scope encompasses a wide range of areas within social sciences, encouraging submissions and maintaining a focus on quality and relevance in the fields of:
  • Social Sciences: Sociology, psychology, geography, political science, history, economics, law, library science, English and related interdisciplinary studies.
  • Management: Marketing, strategic management, organizational behavior, human resource management, leadership studies, productions and operations management, retail management, tourism and hospitality.
  • Commerce: Financial management, accounting, security analysis and portfolio management, behavioral finance, international business, entrepreneurship, information technology, E- commerce, business ethics, cooperative management, banking, insurance, and corporate governance.
  • Interdisciplinary Perspectives: Articles bridging social sciences and exploring intersections and collaborative opportunities.
  • Methodologies and Approaches: Empirical studies, quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, experimental research, case analysis, meta-analyses, and systematic reviews.
  1. Download the template for preparing your manuscript from the website.
  2. All research articles/papers should be typed with one line spacing. Articles/papers must be accompanied by an abstract of 150-200 words and about five key words.  Notes (if any) should be numbered serially and presented at the end of the article.  Articles/papers should be between 4000 – 5000 words.
  3. Please provide the following on the title page of the paper: title of the paper, name(s) of the author(s), their affiliations/designations and contact details. The actual article/paper, preceded by an abstract, should commence on page 2.  As the papers will be peer-reviewed through a blind peer-review system, the name(s) of the author(s) should not appear anywhere other than on the title page.
  4. British spellings should be used throughout.
  5. Use single quotes throughout. Double quotes are to be used within single quotes only. Spellings of words in quotations should not be changed.  Quotations of 45 words or more should be separated from the text and indented with one space, with a line space above and below.
  6. Spell out numbers from one to nine; 10 and above to remain in figures. For exact measurements, use only figures (3 kms, 9 per cent – not %).
  7. When referring to a century, use words, e.g., `twentieth century’, and when reference is being made to a decade, use numbers, e.g., `1990s’.
  8. Tables and figures to be indicated by number (e.g., see Table 1), and not by placement (e.g. see table below).
  9. A consolidated alphabetical list of all books, articles, reports, essays, etc., referred to should be provided at the end of the article under `References’ (references should include only those sources which were actually made use of and cited in the main text). All sources should be listed as per APA style (7th Edition), referencing in alphabetical order of author, giving the author’s surname first, followed by initials.  If more than one publication by the same author is listed, the items should be given in chronological order.  References are to be embedded in text, e.g., (Dias, 2024) or (Dias, 2024, p. 35). Citations should be first alphabetical and then chronological, e.g., (Dias, 2024; Jha, 2000; Singh, 2023). In case of three or more authors, please write et al. with the author’s name (e.g. Dias et al., 2024).  The DOI (Digital Object Identifier) link for all references is mandatory. Basic style of referencing is as follows:

  • In case of an edited book:

  • In case of a chapter in an edited book:

  • In case of web-links:

  1. Review & Archiving Policy
  • Peer-review process: All submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer-review.
  • Editorial review: After peer review, the editorial board evaluates reviewer reports and decides on acceptance, revisions, or rejection.
  • Archiving & long-term access: Once accepted and published online, articles will be archived indefinitely. GYANA will maintain permanent online access to published issues.
  • Post-publication corrections/retractions: If errors are detected or ethical concerns arise after publication, the journal reserves the right to issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions, in line with ethical standards.
 
  1. Article Processing Charge (APC) / Open Access Statement
  • GYANA aims to disseminate research widely and operates under an Open Access (OA) policy.
 
  1. Acceptance Policy
  • Manuscripts must adhere to submission guidelines (template, word-count, formatting, referencing style, etc.) as specified on the journal website.
  • Authors must submit original work that has not been previously published or concurrently submitted elsewhere.
  • On acceptance, authors must agree to publication under the journal’s copyright terms.
  • Authors must provide complete and accurate author details (names, affiliations, contact information) on the title page.
  • All authors listed should have made significant contributions, and all must approve the final version.
 
  1. Ethical Guidelines
  • The journal adheres to broadly accepted guidelines under UGC. international standards of publication ethics
  • Unethical practices such as data fabrication, falsification, distortion, duplicate submission or publication, redundant publication, and misrepresentation of research must be avoided
  • The journal expects honesty, integrity, transparency, and respect for intellectual property from authors, reviewers, and editors.
 
  1. Plagiarism Policy
  • Manuscripts must be the original work of the authors, not published elsewhere, and not under consideration by another journal.
  • Use of others’ ideas, text, data, or images must be properly cited and credited. Any form of plagiarism (including “self-plagiarism”) is strictly prohibited.
  • The journal may use plagiarism-detection software (or manual checks) to verify originality. Manuscripts found to violate this policy may be rejected or retracted (if discovered post-publication).
  • Up to 10 % plagiarism is accepted.
 
  1. Conflict of Interest (COI) Disclosure Policy
  • Authors, Reviewers and editors must disclose any financial or non-financial interests that could be perceived to influence the research, analysis, or interpretation of results (e.g. funding, sponsorship, consultancy, personal relationships).
 
  1. Use of Artificial Intelligence / Large Language Models Policy
  • Disclosure: Authors must disclose any use of AI-based tools (e.g. for language editing, proofreading, data analysis, translation) in the manuscript.
  • Human responsibility: AI may assist only with language polishing or formatting; the authors remain fully responsible for the intellectual content, originality, accuracy, and validity of data, analysis and conclusions. AI tools cannot be credited as authors.
  • Restrictions on use: AI-generated content should not be used to fabricate data, references, citations, or conclusions. Undisclosed use of AI for substantive writing or analysis is unacceptable and may lead to rejection or retraction.
