Objectives
- To hone the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in our students in the English language.
- To promote the use of grammatically correct English Language and to communicate effectively.
- To help students acquire the knowledge of the subject of English literature and inculcate an appreciation for World Literatures.
- To nurture their innate creativity and originality and open fresh avenues for personality development.
- To train students to compete at the national and global level and prepare them for the job market.

Assoc. Prof. Anna M. Rodrigues has extensive experience teaching in the fields of both English Language and English Literature. Besides being involved in teaching, she has also mentored students over the years, been the editor of the college newsletter, college magazine, departmental newsletter, convenor of the Reading Club, Languages’ Cell in addition to being a member of the various committees in the college and at Goa University. With her vast teaching experience, excellent communication skills, approachable and empathetic personality, students find interacting and learning with her beneficial and interesting. Her interests are reading and writing.
Name: Priya Carvalho e Viegas

Teaching Experience: 27 Years
Joined the Department of English at Rosary College in 1993. She has extensive experience in teaching Communication Skills and Literature. Her areas of interest are Goan Literature and Shakespeare Studies. She aims at making classroom teaching interactive, student-centric and interesting with the use of ICT. She has served the college in diverse roles as Cultural Coordinator, Convenor of the Languages’ Cell, Heritage Cell, Health Cell, Reading Club and Editor of the College Magazine ‘Navodaya’. She has been a part of the Steering Committee during the 2nd and 3rd cycles of NAAC.
Name: Ms. Audrey Fernandes

Ms. Audrey Fernandes is an Associate Professor in the Department of English. She joined Rosary College in the year 2000. She has held various administrative posts in the college through the years and has been a part of important committees at the University and its affiliated colleges. She has presented papers at Seminars; participated in Orientation and Refresher Courses, Seminars, Workshops, Conferences and FDP’s and organized State level seminars for faculty as well as for students. She has published an article ‘ Macbeth to Maqbool: A Study in Transmutation’ in the research journal Gyana. Apart from teaching her interest is in dramatics. She was awarded the Best Director award for directing the plays Bears and Trees at the All Goa Drama Competition and Inter-collegiate Drama Competition respectively.

Ms. Archana Kumar is an Asst. Prof. in the Department of English and teaches the students of FY, SY and TY. She is an alumni of Rosary College, was crowned Ms. Rosary 2018 (for her all round excellence) and was awarded the first Rank in Goa at the TYBA examinations in 2018. She has won numerous prizes at various elocution competitions, quizzes, poetry recitations, debates, seminars, spelling bee and treasure hunts and has been featured multiple times in the newspapers for her achievements. Ms. Archana is a voracious reader, active sportsperson and cultivates a passion for teaching and inspiring minds.
