Objectives

Name: Priya Carvalho e Viegas

Teaching Experience: 29 Years
Joined the Department of English at Rosary College in 1993. She has extensive experience in teaching Communication Skills and Literature. Her areas of interest are Goan Literature and Shakespeare Studies. She aims at making classroom teaching interactive, student-centric and interesting with the use of ICT. She has served the college in diverse roles as Cultural Coordinator, Convenor of the Languages’ Cell, Heritage Cell, Health Cell, Reading Club and Editor of the College Magazine ‘Navodaya’. She has been a part of the Steering Committee during the 2nd and 3rd cycles of NAAC.

Ms. Archana Kumar is an Asst. Prof. in the Department of English and teaches the students of FY, SY and TY. She is an alumni of Rosary College, was crowned Ms. Rosary 2018 (for her all round excellence) and was awarded the first Rank in Goa at the TYBA examinations in 2018. She has won numerous prizes at various elocution competitions, quizzes, poetry recitations, debates, seminars, spelling bee and treasure hunts and has been featured multiple times in the newspapers for her achievements. Ms. Archana is a voracious reader, active sportsperson and cultivates a passion for teaching and inspiring minds.

Asst. Prof. Sasha S. Pereira has been working in the Department of English at Rosary College since 2018. She completed her Masters in English from Goa University in 2016. At Rosary College, she teaches papers dealing with language, communication, literature and film studies to the first, second and third year students of the college. Apart from making the English language more accessible to young students, she has a passion for reading, writing, theatre and travelling.

Ms. Valerie works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English. She keeps herself informed about current events and is an avid reader. Apart from academics, she was the former President of Chicalim Youth Farmers Club (2020-22) which works towards revival of agriculture in her village. She is also a sportsperson and has represented the State of Goa at Senior Women Nationals Rugby 7s Championships multiple times and had participated at the 37th National Games in 2023.

Asst. Prof. Samilla Mayuravaz holds an M.A. in English Literature, is SET-qualified, and is currently pursuing independent research with a focus on diaspora studies. Her academic interests are deeply rooted in postcolonial narratives, and she has been actively publishing papers that explore themes of Goan diaspora, identity, and displacement. Her prior experience at the Chamber of Commerce provided her with practical insights into cultural policy, public communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration—perspectives that now enrich her academic work. Firmly connected to her Goan heritage, Samilla is passionate about preserving local traditions. She frequently visits book fairs and folk archives, collects oral histories from village elders. She believes that literature must be taught in context—that the coconut groves, old Goan homes, and serene fishing jetties of Goa hold narratives as powerful as those in any global literary canon. Her classroom approach blends the textual with the experiential, making literature both lived and lyrical.Outside her academic pursuits,she finds joy in outdoor activities such as gardening, sketching.

Ms. Niveta Kudalkar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English. She is NET and SET qualified. She completed an MA in English at Goa University. She has worked at St. Joseph Vaz College, G.V.M’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics and Kala Academy Goa’s College of Theatre Arts. She has the experience of teaching B.A, B.Com, B.C.A, B.P.A.T and B.Sc. students. She acquired top rank for the 12th board exam (Arts stream) at St. Andrew Higher Secondary School. She was felicitated thrice for scoring the highest marks in English papers during graduation at M.E.S College. She even received a ‘Letter of Appreciation’ for the teaching-learning
process from G.V.M’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics. Apart from academics, she has written poems and article for the Goan Everyday newspaper. She is fond of reading and creative writing, and she is also inclined toward the artistic and creative world. She loves to sketch, paint, and draw, as well as create handicraft items and other creative things.
