From an economy on the brink of disaster in the mid-sixties to an economy with great potential, India has come a long way. The Department of Economics has been providing the best of resources for an ever increasing need of trained manpower in the industry.
The department has been providing an adequate number of books / Journals in the library. The lecturers use LCD projectors for teaching. Notes and other Subject content are provided to students via the Intranet. The lecturers are competent in computer teaching and learning. The lecturers are involved in academic counselling of students. The students are encouraged to voice their difficulties at a personal and academic level to the lecturers.

Over 30 years experience in Higher Education, involving Teaching and Administration. Was Rosary College Vice Principal for 04 terms (12 years). Was Principal of Fr. Agnel College, Pilar, Goa, for 05 years where he helped the College to secure the prestigious NAAC A+ Grade. Has published numerous research papers in various international/national research journals, including in SCOPUS and UGC listed journals. Book titled “Economic Impact of HIV/AIDS on Households” published by SAGE International was among top ranked bestsellers on Amazon. Recognised as Ph.D guide in Economics by Goa University. Recipient of numerous awards; is/was member of various academic/non-academic committees of Goa University, Directorate of Higher Education, and others. Area of expertise is Health Economics.

Ms. Sonia Vaz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics. She joined Rosary College in 1994. She has attended several Seminars, Workshops and Conferences organized by the College and other institutions. She has published two research papers. She has co-presented a paper titled ‘Challenges of COVID-19 to the World’ at an International E-Conference organized by Government of Maharashtra in association with Government Vidarbha Institute of Science and Humanities. Apart from teaching, her interests are Reading, watching movies and Travelling.

Mr.John Xavier D’Souza is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics . He joined Rosary College in the year 2007. He taught papers like Public Finance, Microeconomics, International Economics and Economics of Resources. He has presented papers on topics like Sustainable Agriculture, Sustainable development of the Agricultural sector etc. at International, National and State Level Seminars. Besides teaching, he has provided cricket and table tennis coaching for the College Boys team from 2008 till 2014.
